The Cancer Council of New South Wales has come out in support of brain surgeon Dr Charlie Teo for allowing charity auction winners to watch him perform surgery.
The council says it has auctioned the chance to watch Dr Teo operate four times in the past two years to raise research funds.
Some medical professionals have said the consent given by patients is not good enough because of their vulnerable emotional state.
